Islam may be looked at, as the truth and not as a religion. It is the religion to about one fifth of the world’s population. The Muslim society believes in peace, mercy and forgiveness, and most of them are not associated with the horrific events that are related to this religion and to this society. It is believed that there are about one billion Muslims in the whole world.
They live in various countries from Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Middle East, Africa and the UK and US. Though they are found in several other communities, Indonesia has the largest number of Muslims, with the Arab world coming close behind. The Muslim world believes in an incomparable God who has angels, and also in the Judgement Day.
Unlike any other religion, they believe that Adam, Noah and Jesus, and other popular characters from The Bible are prophets of God. But their belief finally rests in the fact that the final message was delivered to Prophet Muhammmed, through the angel Gabriel. It is not too difficult to become a Muslim. All you have to do is say that God is the only and eternal God, and that Prophet Muhammed is his messenger.
Islam is an Arabic word, and can be derived from a word that means peace. In a religious way, it simply means complete submission to God. The Arabic name for God is “Allah”. This is used by Christians and Muslims alike. Islam is seen as being very unique to the world, because religion rules their daily lives. That is the first priority in their mind and they do not divide between being secular and scared.
The origin of Islam can be dated back to Christianity, and the Muslim society believes that all the Prophets are direct descendants from Abraham. Abraham is responsible for the settlement in the city of Makkah, where the Muslims turn towards to pray. It is a place of worship, the Kaba, which was built by Abraham about four thousand years ago.
Muhammed was enlightened at the age of forty, and this enlightenment continued for about twenty three years. He translated it into the Koran, which is the holy book of the Muslims. The spread of Islam was quick, and it spread across several nations. The main reason for it was the simple doctrine of the religion, to believe in one God who is worthy of worship.
The Koran still has its original text, it has been passed down over fourteen centuries. Nobody even changed a single word in it. The Muslim world maintained Muhammed’s enlightenment, which was dictated to him by angel Gabriel. It is otherwise known as the last revealed word of God. The Sunnah that is believed by Muslims, is the belief in the practice and example of the Prophet.
Islam believes in five pillars of faith. Muslims do not disrespect any other religion, but only protect their own fiercely. It is also known that the foundation of the Islamic society is family.
