Muslim love can be looked upon in several ways. It cannot be narrowed down to one single perspective. There is the love between the man and Allah, man and wife, mother and child, between friends, love for parents, love for brothers and sisters. There are several rules written in the Koran for Muslim love.
In today’s world, being modern is a must. It happens among peers and the society at large. Muslims are increasingly deviating from the path of the teachings of Islam. Being in love and dating like the Western world has influenced a lot of Muslim cultures in different countries.
The main thing the religion of Muslims teaches them is to be modest in the presence of the opposite sex. Muslim women cannot be dressed provocatively in front of Muslim men. A man and woman belonging to the Islamic world, must at all costs only love one another after marriage.
They have to take vows to love each other for the rest of their lives. It is illegal according to the Koran to be involved romantically with a person before marriage. They cannot physically get involved with one another, in any way. There is another important teaching of Islam.
Two people of the same sex must not get involved with each other romantically and physically. They will not be considered true Muslims after this. Naturally marriage for these people is forbidden too. There will be severe punishments towards those who get involved in such activities.
Islam orders and encourages all people belonging to the community to love one another. They must also embrace and welcome warmly all converts to the religion, and must not frown upon them as outsiders. After all, spreading the word of God, in pure love for their religion, is the first priority of a Muslim.
All Muslims must be loved equally, whether they are female or male. Muslims are commanded to love their brothers and sisters right from the time they are old enough to understand relationships and Islam. Noone must be shunned in a time of need either.
Parents must be held in the highest regard. All Muslim children must respect and help their parents even after they are married with their own families. They must provide for them whenever they become old and incapable of looking after themselves.
Love among Muslims has Islam as its foundation, and nothing can be shaken. Once Muslims give a word to their loved ones, they are known never to go back on that word. Muslims cannot have relationships that are romantic with people belonging to other religions. Though they respect other religions, they will have to follow the rules of the Koran.
Today the younger generation has widely debated this statement. They have been constantly exposed to the behavior and culture of Western countries, and believe that there is nothing wrong in going out or having fun with friends. This can be done as long as there is nothing done against the will of Allah.
