Muslim World Stands Out From Other Religions

An individual may look at the Muslim world from two different perspectives. One way to look at it will be to understand the community belonging to the Muslim religion. This community has a number of Muslims, and they are about 1.6 billion in strength across the world. They are not restricted to one race, but are spread across all ethnic groups around the world. The other meaning will be to note the geographical position of the strength of the Muslims in the world. It may also be known as Islamic world. The collective word for this community is “ummah”.

The faith of Islam teaches all Muslims to be united in a brotherhood. From this it is naturally expected that all Muslim nations must cooperate with each other, but today that is not the issue in the world. There has been a sign of increasing conflict among several nations that are Muslim. Majority of the world’s Muslims live in the northern countries of Africa, North Asia, Middle East and South East Asia.

Muslims in the world of Islam do not believe in drawing images for their God. They believe that God is everywhere and does not need a form. This may also lead to idolatry and it is not favorable for Muslims to do such an activity. The Muslim world has some very interesting and unique art and architecture. No one can forget the beauty of the 17th century construction, the Taj Mahal that still remains as one of the greatest wonders of the world and also a great influence in architecture in India.

The Muslim world has expressed its art explicitly in the form of architecture in mosques. All of them will be very intricately designed. Many Muslim scientists have contributed to the advance of mathematics and astronomy. They also contributed largely to the field of algebra.

In modern Islam, and the modern Muslim world, there is an important organization in the world known as The Organization of the Islamic conference. There are fifty seven States as members. These members have decided to pool resources from all the States to safeguard the interests of the Muslims the world over.

Sunni and Shia sects are the main divisions in Islam. About 85 percent of the Muslims in the world belong to the Sunni sect. They believe that they must follow the traditions of the Companions of the Prophet and other common people, whereas the Shias believe that they must follow the traditions of the Family of the Prophet.

Most Islamic nations do not encourage the culture of the Western world. All Muslim women dress modestly, and they sometimes are a subject for rebuke among the Western world. Not all countries who have Muslims have the same dress code for them. The role of Islam politics in many Muslim countries has grown in the past few years. They are not looked upon too kindly by the rest of the world, as they are termed as Islamism or Islamists.
